Should I shave it?

I have been working on a respectable goatee and I like it a lot so far. The problem is this: I have a job interview at a marketing firm on Wednesday morning and I don't know if I should just trim it so it looks like it has a purpose or if I should shave it off and admit that it has no purpose.
The attire required for the interview is business professional, so I am thinking that shaving it off would make the most sense.
Tell me what you think...

Guess it depends on what you're hiding under it. Seriously, though, have you scouted out the company to see if others are all clean shaven; that might give you an idea what the corporate culture's preference is. Of course then you have to decide if you want to live within a corporate climate that has a problem with a little facial hair.

On their Web site all of their executives, account managers and administrators are clean shaven, so that should tell me something.

As to whether I want to live within a corporate climate that has a problem with facial hair... I think I want to live within a corporate climate where I can pay my bills!

I'll just shave it most likely, then after I get the job and become comfortable with the people and climate there I may grow it again.

I grew one while I was on leave for two weeks. You might remember I used to have a crazy goatee back when I was young and cool. Turns out, after 6 years of being clean shaven, it was really itchy and annoying, and the babies tended to pull away from me. I practically couldn't wait to shave it.

My advice would be to shave it for the interview, and then grow another one once you have the job. I've done that several times in my life.
